Tarot Cards and Lightworkers

Tarot cards and oracle cards are tools often used by modern day Lightworkers. But there is still a lot of misunderstanding out there on them and I have had several Christian friends tell me that they were taught that the tarot was evil or satanic. I’ve had academic friends dismiss any type of divination as a combination of coincidence and psychology 101. And I for one, have had my own dubious past with the tarot.

In my case, I started reading tarot cards for myself and friends when I was about 14 years old. Nothing wrong with that, except it was a case of wrong place, wrong time. At the time I was enrolled in a private Christian school, that saw my mini tarot cards as a sure sign I was possessed by the devil and I got suspended. That was just one of many misadventures of Christian school, but I’ll leave that for another time. Suffice it to say,  tarot cards have caused me some issues, so back then to my 14 year old self,  it seemed like too much trouble. So I packed my cards away, where they would stay for many years.

However about ten years ago, I felt the pull to pick up tarot cards again. But I’ll admit I was a little hesitant. Not because of the Christians and their crazy ideas about it being evil, but because of my own intellectualization of the topic. While I have always been a mystic, I’ve also always been an academic and I tend to intellectualize things too much to the  point of skepticism a good amount of time. But I can’t help it, I am always wanting to find out the true ‘why’ and ‘how’ behind all things, especially the mystical. So for me, the idea that pulling tarot cards would foretell a possible future or give insight into a situation wasn’t a total sell for me. I was and remain to this day, on the fence about it.

There are some plausible theories based off of metaphysical laws and reasons behind the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of tarot, , that make the most sense to me and I’ll share some of that below.  First off, let me clarify that tarot and oracle cards are different in their format, but for the points made in this post, they are close enough to be discussed in the same vein.

Let’s unpack this somehow.

How would tarot/oracle cards pulled at random by you or another on your behalf, possibly have anything to do with you and your life?

What makes the most sense to me, has to do with the Law of Attraction and your point of resonance at the time the cards are drawn. If you consider the principles behind the Law of Attraction, which is really about magnetism. Then ask what causes something to be magnetically drawn to you? This is where I want to go off on the quantum field of endless possibilities, but we’ll save that for it’s own time.

The simple answer is your field of resonance. Or your vibrational frequency that creates a specific wave of energy that emanates out from you and attracts to itself, things that also resonate on that same wave length. In pop culture metaphysics, Law of Attraction is used all the time to “manifest” your dreams and goals. But what you need to understand is that this Law of Attraction, is always acting. Not just when you are consciously focused on your goals. But all the time, 24/7, whatever vibe you’re putting out there, is literally attracting more of its kind to you. Be it something you want or not. It simply acts, irrespective of personalities or opinions.

This is also acting when you draw tarot cards or oracle cards. If you’re in a positive, high vibe place, you’re more likely to pull cards that, regardless of the imagery on them, from your point of attraction and resonance, you will grasp a positive, higher message from them. If you are in a low, depressed state when you draw the cards, it’s very possible that your energy will draw out a more negative reading. Again, regardless of which cards you actually pull, your subconscious mind will interpret the messages from whatever point you happen to be at, in the moment. Because you will only resonate with messages that already correlate to your wavelength of energy you are choosing to be on at the time. I say choose, because you can always choose a different frequency to tune into, through your attention. More on that in another post.

Now that’s not to say that you shouldn’t do tarot card readings when you’re sad and need a little pick me up. Because I’m sure it can help in those times. But in my personal experience, on the low days, I always drew cards that seemed to feed into my insecurities and negative thoughts. But on the happy days, I would draw positive cards that foretold of my future.

Now what does this mean? Does this mean that they work or that they don’t work?

Well, that depends on how you look at this.

First of all, if you’re asking if they work to tell the future of events?

My answer is that, like the quantum field of endless possibilities, any future you can think up is a possible reality. If certain cards trigger certain ideas, images and feelings about a topic for you, it’s totally possible that you can see it through to that manifested form. If you choose. In exactly the same way, that you can choose a different outcome for yourself and instead take the cards as a warning of a possible future, if you don’t alter your thoughts and actions from here on out. Again, you are the controller of this and are free to alter your point of attraction at any moment, through your attention, followed by your feelings.

But that is not to say that whatever cards you draw, can’t be useful. Because they can act as a thermometer of sorts. You can look at the reading and tell what type of vibe you may be putting out about the topic you asked about before the reading. If you don’t like the reading, look at your thought process surrounding the issue. And ask yourself where you can look for the positives in all areas, so that you can begin to change the frequency you are working from. If the cards are positive you can take it as a real sign from the universe that your energies are aligned with your desired manifestation. And you can use the positive reading to amp your feelings of excitement and acceptance of the final outcome. Which we all know, only goes to speed up manifestation.

In these ways, tarot cards and oracle cards can be very useful.

I hear some of you asking about ‘who’? Who is answering on the other side of the cards? Is it just random? Is it your Guardian Angel? Is it a deity? Is it the Universe?

My answer to that, is that it’s whoever or whatever you direct your question to. If you’ve asked the dead to speak to you through the cards, then prepare yourself for the possibility. But also be very weary, as the dead are hard to see with the physical eyes and they can lie from the other side of the veil. I have used them to ask family that has passed over for a few signs and had interesting results. But please don’t try to communicate with the dead without proper protection rituals in place beforehand.

Personally, I usually direct the conversation to my “Mighty ‘I AM’ Presence” and to my guardian angel, to use the cards as a physical means of communication with my outer consciousness. I am open to the idea that the cards I draw are the only cards I could have drawn in that moment, because of my vibrational frequency or point of resonance at the time. I try to take the messages from the cards and allow whatever life circumstances first come to mind that make sense in the reading and, just allow that message to come through as clearly as possible.

To be honest, I don’t always like the messages. I get frustrated sometimes and put them back on the shelf for months. But I usually see, later, in real life, things play out that surprisingly made past readings make sense. Which of course leads me back to my cards.

I’m not an expert at tarot. I use it very intuitively and personally. I experiment with it and I’ve asked Goddesses to communicate with me. I’ve asked angels, my “I AM” Presence, and loved ones. But to be honest the readings that have helped me the most were the ones I directed to my “I AM” Presence. Which, is something we all have, and its our own personal point of contact with Source. (A future blog is coming for more on that.) But a lot of you will know what I’m talking about. Some of you might associate that term with your own Higher Self … that would be accurate too … so when I draw cards, I have had the best results when trying to delve into my own higher being, my own connection with energy and how it flows through me.

But you can direct your queries to anyone you like. However I highly suggest, you keep it Light. Literally, ask that only Beings of Light communicate through the cards, or some version of that, that makes sense in your personal practice.

The more you work with them, the more you’re workin with yourself and looking at what your thought patterns and energy patterns truly are around the big topics in your life. It gives you a chance to look at your situation from a different angle and hopefully draw new inspiration on how to handle things or manifest things.

Do I think tarot cards work?

Yes. But how you interpret the message is up to you.

Am I saying that Law of Attraction causes you to pull whatever cards you pull?

Yes. It really can’t be any other way. We attract everything that we have to ourselves. If we have it, we somehow attracted it. If we pull a card, there’s a reason. It’s just that sometimes our outer personalities, egos and intellects just can’t let go of what they want to see, to see what’s right in front of them.

Who answers when you ask the cards a question?

Whoever you direct the question to. Think about it, do you answer a question that someone asked someone else? Not usually. But you’re more likely to answer a question that someone directs your way. It’s the same on the other side of the visible spectrum/the veil.

Well, I hope that helps someone. I think I’ll leave it there for now as this is getting a little long.
